Hunters for the Hungry

Based on the SCIF Sportsmen Against Hunter program, Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry was founded by the Kentuckiana Chapter SCI and expanded with sponsorship from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources and recently additional sponsors include the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.

Since 2000, Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry (KHFH) has coordinated with deer processors and food banks across Kentucky to distribute venison donated by Kentucky hunters. Annually, KHFH funds the processing of approximately 50,000 pounds of venison, which provides as many as 400,000 meals to hungry Kentuckians.

Throughout the year, Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry seeks private and corporate donations to fund processing fees.  One $65 processing fee provides about 400 meals. Our goal this year is to fund 2,000 processing fees, which would equate to over 800,000 meals.   We need your help and support to make our efforts go even farther.  Our efforts won’t reach their maximum effectiveness unless we have the support and backing of our entire community.

KYSCI continues to be a supporter of the KHFH program with annual grants and shared volunteers.  If you would like to help, donations are accepted via checks (KHFH, PO Box 43281, Louisville, KY 40253) and on KHFH website at:  kyhuntersforthehungry.info
